Look for the following items in each school's Media Center in the Professional Development section.
Bow
School to Career Directory
This directory lists over
300 businesses, nonprofit organizations, and government agencies that are interested in
working with Bow students and faculty. This directory is useful for identifying
guest speakers, work-site tours, job shadow sites, internships, and externship
opportunities. This directory is also available electronically on select computers
in each school. Check with your Technology Coordinator for locations. It is
also available on the School to Career web site.
Teachers
Learning in the Community: A Field Guide
This resource offers a
step-by-step guide to workplace learning for educators. It is used as the text for
the Educator in the Workplace Seminar which offers graduate credit for participation in
externships.
Bow
Faculty Resource Guides
The Bow Faculty Resource
Guide is a compilation of lesson plans developed by faculty members who have participated
in the Bow Faculty/Business Externship Experience. These lesson plans integrate
their externship experience into the curriculum at the elementary, middle school, and
secondary school levels.

This collection of
guidelines, workbooks, and handouts from the Northwest Regional Education Laboratory will
assist faculty members in engaging their students in a wide variety of work-based learning
experiences.
Practices
in Work-Based Learning
Effective Strategies: Examples that Work
These resources are from
the NH Department of Education. The first is a tool-kit which outlines New
Hampshire's school to career history, philosophy, and fundamentals. The second
identifies effective practices throughout the state including a number of strategies in
Bow.
Volunteer Opportunities Directory
This directory lists volunteer opportunities for students and teachers interested in community service and community
service learning. The directory can be found
in each school's Media Center.

Human Resources Directory
This directory is comprised of school, police, and human service
agencies that serve the Bow community. The directory can be found in each
school's Media Center.
