Aditya Shah: Ives Spelling Bee Champion!

What an impressive bee it was! The twelve finalists spelled their way through eighteen rounds of difficult words. The audience listened intently as their grade-level representatives flawlessly spelled such words as "bilingual," "tardigrade," and "virulent." In the end, Aditya Shah, grade 8, edged out Runner-Up Emma Bradley, grade 6, by spelling ''inveterate" correctly, becoming the 2012 Ives Spelling Bee Champion. Congratulations to all participants; they were amazing spellers indeed!

BMS: A Giving Community

Many lives were brightened because of the giving spirit of the BMS community. Student Council and the Bow Education Association (BEA) joined efforts in providing Bow Welfare Thanksgiving baskets. Grade 5 students helped meet the wish lists of a number of area children who participate in The Friends Program in Concord. Grade 6 students collected donations for the Merrimack Valley SPCA, and a huge carload of pet food, paper towels, toys, and treats were delivered. Student Council organized very successful Capital Region Food Program and Friends of Forgotten Children food and toy collection drives. The BEA and Bow Education Support Staff (BESS)made a monetary donation of $675 to the NH Food Bank. What wonderful examples of how to spread joy during the holiday season!
