TEACHER TALK

This webquest was created based on our curriculum.  Essential questions can be developed and the activities modified for grade level needs.  The class was broken up into groups of four to five.  Each student participated in two groups - the BASE GROUP which was their seating group, and the TOPIC GROUP which was the research group.   Each TOPIC GROUP was responsible for gathering information on one essential question, each student was responsible for sharing the inforamtion gathered as part of the TOPIC GROUP with the members of the BASE GROUP.

The activity began with a whole group activity exploring the Introduction or Task.   Students created their own learning logs with lined notebook paper and a front and back.  Students were assigned their research groups and were given their essential question.  The groups created a poster with their essential question and then began brainstorming sub questions to be answered that would help them answer their essential question.

Learning Log Questions were developed as the unit progressed and were written on the board halfway through the class, were answered by students and were shared at the beginning of the next meeting.

Sample questions:  What is the focus of your topic?
What is the water cycle - what does this have to do with weather formation?
                                 What is acid rain?
