| Find a partner. Decide how much you will read. Decide if you will read independently or together; you can alternate. Use sticky notes to help you identify parts of the selection that pertain to your job. If reading together, you have the right to ask a person to speak more clearly, softly, or loudly. Always use please and thank you. If your partner is having trouble figuring out a word or phrase, allow him/her time to use strategies (at least 5 seconds) and then offer to help. Once the reading has been completed, have a discussion about what you have read. Make text-to-text, text-to-self, and text-to-world connections. On your own, complete your job
sheet (neatly) and share when you meet again. This is a time for
great conversation. Compliment your partner when s/he have read
well, tried her/his best, or have come up with a great idea. |
